Water Mead Yurt
Where you stay…..
Hidden in the woods down by the water we have built an enchanting 5m yurt.
It truly is hidden in the woods and is accessible by 4x4 or walking only. We can provide you a 4x4 drop off service for a small charge. Parking is at the Mill which is 500m away following the bridleway. You can borrow a wheel barrow from the mill to take your luggage if you would prefer to walk. (you can cut through the woods and field for a quicker route back to your car during your stay.)
Its a well equipped off grid holiday home for a couple or small family. It is decorated with high quality hand made and vintage items giving it a unique beauty and charm. It has a generous double bed topped with feather duvets and pillows... dressed in quality cotton sheets. Although the space is best laid out for a couple we can provide an extra double mattress so that it would also work well for a family of four. The kitchen has a fridge, gas hob, grill and oven and is fully equipped for all your holiday needs. There is a wee log burner inside to take the chill out of the autumn evenings and outside it has its own fire pit with hand crafted wooden benches. You can buy wood from us for either fire.
Water Mead has its own private toilet just outside the yurt, the very best compost loo at the mill ! There is an IBC of filtered well water and a small battery powered shower, but we highly recommend jumping in the beautiful fresh steams surrounding you for a quick (non soapy!) wash.
There is solar power to the yurt providing enough power for basic charging and the thoughtfully considered lighting ….but its a good to remember this is off grid and only has limited power.
Please be aware we definitely do not class this as glamping. The yurt is not pristine but it is very well crafted and very pretty. This is an authentic off grid experience, deep in beautiful nature. We are really grateful to be able to share this space with you, we are sure you won't be disappointed by the setting! But please be aware that this is off a bridle way which is used by horses and is often muddy.
We will always be here to welcome you and there will always be someone at hand or by the telephone if you need anything during your stay.

Other points…….
We are happy to welcome groups of friends or family looking for a place to holiday together. There is ample space around the yurt where up to 5 tents can be put up for an extra £10 per adult per night. (select number of adults camping when making your booking)
There is private 4x4 parking directly outside the yurt and we highly recommend bringing your own transport. The nearest large supermarkets are 6 miles away in Tiverton, with local independent shops 4 miles away in Bampton.
If you have no vehicle and are looking to really get away and move around on foot we can help you with transport to and from Tiverton Parkway train station. There is a shop nearby which sells great local produce and also delivers , please check out bamptonfresh.com.
The Vodaphone reception is ok at water mead yurt, other networks have patchy reception.
Talk to us about your pets we will try to accommodate you all!
Please do not bring any generators or have any amplified music past 11pm (small battery speakers like minirigs and acoustic music are ok later!)
There is a lot of wildlife here, and a lot of deer; which unfortunately means ticks. We recommend checking yourself daily if you are out walking a lot.
