The Yurt

Where you stay…..

Our beautiful 6m yurt is situated with stunning views across a magical valley.

The yurt was our home so it is very authentic, homely and comfortable.

There is a generous double bed with feather duvet and pillows and high quality cotton sheets. There is also a double sofa bed and double futon and we can be very adaptable to your needs. The kitchen is fully equipped with a four ring gas hob, grill and oven. You also have a fridge with a small freezer compartment.

We aim to look after the wild and wonderful nature around us in all that we do and the yurt is totally off grid. Being off grid definitely means a more unique and hopefully more rewarding holiday experience.

There is a compost loo just outside the yurt .This is next to your stored water for drinking and cleaning which is collected from our well down at the old mill. There is a small re-chargeable shower unit which you can use for a nice outdoor shower with water warmed by the sun or on the hob. Or the beautiful streams which surround us provide great wild freshening options! Please note that you can only use totally natural products near the waterways.

There is solar power to the yurt providing plenty of pretty lighting and enough power for basic things ….but its a good to remember this is off grid and only has limited power.

At night you can sit out around an open fire or if its a bit wet or chilly there is a cosy wood burner inside. We can provide you with wood for the fire which you can book in advance or ask for when you arrive.

Please be aware we definitely do not class this as glamping. This was our home and will be an authentic off grid experience. It is a real mongolian yurt with years of love. Its history is written in the stains on the canvas!

We will always be here to welcome you and there will always be someone at hand or by the telephone if you need anything during your stay.

Other points…….

We are happy to welcome groups of friends or family looking for a place to holiday together. There is ample space around the yurt where up to 5 tents can be put up for an extra £10 per adult per night. (select number of adults camping when making your booking)

There is private parking directly outside the yurt and we highly recommend bringing your own transport. The nearest large supermarkets are 6 miles away in Tiverton, with local independent shops 4 miles away in Bampton.

If you have no vehicle and are looking to really get away and move around on foot we can help you with transport to and from Tiverton Parkway train station. There is a shop nearby which sells great local produce and also delivers , please check out bamptonfresh.com.

The 3G & 4G reception is suprisingly good in this secluded valley!

Talk to us about your pets we will try to accommodate you all!

If you have allergies we have non feather bedding options. But also please be aware that the roof of the yurt is lined with natural fibres and may cause a reaction with some people.

Please do not bring any generators or have any amplified music past 11pm (small battery speakers like minirigs and acoustic music are ok later!)

There is a lot of wildlife here, and a lot of deer; which unfortunately means ticks. We recommend checking yourself daily if you are out walking a lot.
